Bob Crowe and Wally Start, Producers

Prior to forming Angel Entertainment Corporation, Bob Crowe entered the motion picture industry as legal counsel, and later V-P Finance, with Granicus Films. Early on in the 80s armed with a Commerce degree, Wally Start formed Cinepost Productions, a film and video production company specializing in the production of TV commercials, documentaries and drama. During the mid 90s Bob and Wally’s paths crossed when Bob became Cinepost’s legal counsel. They realized their mutual passion for dramatic production, and in 1999 Wally sold Cinepost and joined up with Bob Crowe to form Angel Entertainment.

Their first production was Spirit Creations, a 26 episode Fashion documentary series, which aired on APTN and has been sold internationally. In 2006 Angel Entertainment produced feature film, Shadow Puppets, and in 2007 the partners produced the first season of Rabbit Fall, a supernatural crime series set in a remote northern town. Rabbit Fall Season 2 was produced in 2008 in coordination with Space and APTN. The series has been a big success receiving industry praise and a few nominations over the years, two DGC nominations for Best Dramatic Series and a Gemini nomination for Best Actress for Andrea Menard.

Bob and Wally have sharpened their knowledge of the film industry by participating in Television and film courses. Bob has participated in the NSI Totally Television program, and is currently involved with the Strategic Partners Trans Atlantic Partners program designed to give Canadian producers training and contacts for developing international co-productions. Wally completed the “International Marketing Initiative Program” sponsored by the Business Development Bank in 1995. In 2001, Wally was selected as one of eight producers from across Canada to participate in the National Screen Institute’s “Global Marketing Program”.

Both partners participate at the key international markets including: AFM, Cannes Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, MIPCOM, MIPTV, NAPTE and the Banff World Television Festival. Bob and Wally feel that these markets are crucial to fostering relationships with distributors and commissioning editors, as well as gathering important market intelligence on key trends in the film industry.

Bob and Wally have brought a sharp focus to Angel Entertainment’s business plan which envisions the company bringing first class scripted drama to the international marketplace. Their partnership combines over twenty years of production experience and creative talent.
